Jacqui joined Liora Partners LLC in 2009. For over 28 years, she has been actively involved in the private equity and venture capital industry in the U.S. and Asia, initially as an entrepreneur and later raising capital and providing strategic guidance to both companies and funds.
Jacqui enjoys the process of working with smart entrepreneurs and managers, helping them expand their investor base as well as engage with strategic partners. She has successfully raised capital for private equity funds, hedge funds and companies.
Prior to joining Liora, Jacqui had raised over $350 million for private life science companies. In 2004, she completed the second largest US private placement in healthcare for Medicinova, helping to raise $78 million in two tranches from domestic and international investors. The company was listed six months later in Japan, becoming the first foreign healthcare company to IPO in this country. Jacqui was also instrumental in raising two rounds of capital for BioArray’s solution, a diagnostic company that was sold for 100x sales to a major multinational.
Other projects include the formation of a cosmeceutical company, international capital raising for a biotech tools company later sold to Thermo Electron, and consulting for an international therapeutics company in the gastroenterology space. Jacqui also consulted to, and raised over $830 million in capital internationally for, private equity funds covering: Asian real estate, communications, distressed debt, energy technology, healthcare/biotech, IT, media, telecommunications, litigation finance and transportation. In 2007 she raised the first institutional money for the Phoenix Asia Real Estate Fund, an Asian-based real estate fund that was oversubscribed at $330 million.
From 1984 until 2000, Jacqui lived and worked in Hong Kong and remains a permanent resident. She worked as a merchant banker responsible for Asian syndications, asset sales and structured finance until 1989. During that time she lent to and sold off billions of dollars of Asian corporate and sovereign debt. She left finance to become a successful entrepreneur designing and manufacturing products for export and eventually franchising high technology products throughout Asia.
Jacqui holds a degree from the Wharton School of Business and is a graduate of the Yale in China program. She enjoys traveling, tennis, kayaking, boating and hiking. She resides in Massachusetts and Florida. Jacqui holds Series 7, 63, 24, 79 and 3 FINRA licenses.
